SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Fall Ale Fest and Wing Cook-Off is a way to celebrate the end of summer and fast approaching fall.

The event will begin at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 17 and will feature 15 different samples of beer, seltzer, and kombucha with the opportunity to judge and vote for the best Heavenly Village wings.

“Lake Tahoe’s number one destination, The Shops at Heavenly Village, prides itself on entertainment and events to provide invaluable experiences for our locals, visitors and day trip neighbors,” said President and CEO. management of Trans Sierra Investments and The Shops at Heavenly Village Lake. Tahoe Gary Casteel. “Fall AleFest is going to be an amazing event. We want to thank all of the locals and visitors who attend AleFest and support our great restaurants and shops. On behalf of the Shops at Heavenly Village, we can’t thank you enough.”

The event will feature beers and spirits including but not limited to JuneShine, Sierra Nevada Brewing, Tahoe Blue Vodka, Long Drink, Fifty Fifty Brewing and Alibi Ale Works. Tickets for the event are $40 and a portion of the proceeds will go to Christmas Cheer. The event is sponsored by Dreu Murin Productions. Murin is thrilled to bring back an event he started working on four years ago.

“We were looking for a fall event to boost business because fall is usually our slowest time of year,” Murin said. “In September, things really start to slow down in town.”

After some of Murin’s partners got together and suggested having an Oktoberfest in the fall after a successful spring festival, Murin and Casteel started planning an event perfect for the fall season.

“We decided to release all the beers for this event. It worked really well,” Murin said.

Breweries from all over the Northern Sierra will be in attendance, including the Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.

After the restaurants in the village came together and wanted to participate in some way, the Wing-Off was created and offered the opportunity for local businesses to attract more customers.

“This year we have also added a Law Enforcement Play where the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office BBQ Teams and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office BBQ Team will compete for know who has the best law enforcement wings,” Murin said.

Although the judges are still being confirmed, Murin said that in previous years people like former South Lake Tahoe Mayor Tammy Wallace and City Manager Joe Irvin have judged the past and may return to judge this year.

Tickets are available to sample wings from various restaurants, along with a sample plate of wings available for $6.

At the end of the competition, two 6-foot-tall trophies will be awarded; one to the Best Wings Among Stores and one to the First Responders BBQ Winner.

Buying tickets is also money that goes to the Christmas Cheer Foundation.

“Last year we were able to buy over 550 turkeys partly thanks to donations from the Village Shops and [AleFest proceeds], and basically no family went without a turkey last year, which was pretty amazing,” Murin said. “Christmas Cheer is one of the main charities in the village. We give them a lot and they support us. They come and they work at the check-in counter, so it works. It’s a good partnership. »

Live music from Steel Breeze will also perform during the event. Their show will begin at 1 p.m. For more information, visit eventbrite.com/e/2022-fall-ale-fest-chicken-wing-contest-tickets-263908315877.
