IDAHO FALLS —— Inside City Bagels & Bakery, you’ll find it’s teeming with regulars who come every day to order their favorite dishes from the menu.

“We have a lot of very nice regulars who know our people by name and the employees who work with us, they know our customers,” said Anngi Susano, one of the owners of City Bagels & Bakery.

City Bagels & Bakery, a family owned business, has been around for seven years and is located in a unique building off of Shoup Avenue. Susano said there were five owners – her mother, Lynn Winter, her father, Marvin Winter, her brother Gene, her sister Jill and herself.

They bake their bagels fresh every day at 4 a.m. One of their most popular dishes is turkey provolone on a parmesan bagel with chive cream cheese. Susano said all cream cheese is made from scratch.

Included with the bagel on the side are a pickle and a small cupcake with frosting.

“It’s (signature). The whole is accompanied by a little sweetness at the end. It’s a homemade white cake recipe, and then it’s homemade buttercream, ”she said.

Another popular item is chai latte with whipped cream on top.

“We’re buying a special tea, a strong, very concentrated chai that you can’t find anywhere else in town,” said Suseno.

They have something for everyone in their store, including gluten free items.

Suseno explained that they make soups out of thin air like chicken tortilla, clam chowder, minestrone, tomato basil, and wild chicken and rice.

Another popular item on the menu is a cream horn filled with raspberry cream.

“They’re cooked fresh here every morning. The cream is whipped and then the raspberry filling is added. I go to the library, flip through baking books, and look for new recipes to try. There is always something new that we try, so nobody gets tired of the same old thing, so I like to find new things for bakers to try, ”she said.

City Bagels & Bakery is located at 369 Shoup Ave in Idaho Falls.

It is open Monday to Friday from 6.30 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
