The Guardian’s Cat Unveiled
Danny Ward couldn’t keep endemic Denmark at bay, but Leicester City team-mate Kasper Schmeichel was delighted his deputy could show off his talents on the world stage.
Ward and Schmeichel met at Euro 2020 on Saturday night as Wales succumbed 4-0 to the Danes in the round of 16.
It was the first time that two goalkeepers from the same club had met in a European Championships game, and it ended with City number one winning as Kasper Dolberg scored twice before Joakim Maehle and Martin Braithwaite did add late arrivals to top off a superb performance.
Ward was unable to produce the heroism that saved Wales in the group stages, but Schmeichel was quick to tell his team-mate how successful he was when they met after the match.
In a live-streamed instant, the two town guards chatted and then kissed as they made their way to the tunnel full-time.
Speaking to talkSPORT, Schmeichel revealed details of their conversation.

Smith transfer position
Dundee United boss Tam Courts has addressed transfer speculation linking teenage starlet Kerr Smith to a move to Leicester City.
Leicester have reportedly edged rivals Manchester United and Aston Villa in the race to sign the 16-year-old defender.
The Foxes are said to be keen to activate a clause in the center-back’s contract that would allow them to buy him for around £ 500,000.
Smith signed his first professional contract in December and it is understood his release clause will increase as he makes more first-team appearances for the Scottish club.
Newly appointed head coach Courts – who was previously responsible for tactical performances – insisted he was relaxed about it.

Ghezzal update
Leicester City have reportedly set the asking price for winger Rachid Ghezzal.
Ghezzal spent the 2020-21 season on loan at Besiktas and had a big impact there.
The 29-year-old has scored eight goals and provided 18 assists in 35 appearances as he helped the Turkish side clinch a league-cup double.
Besiktas is keen to retain the player’s services on a permanent basis and he does not appear to feature in Brendan Rodgers’ future plans, so a move could be considered this summer.
Turkish media outlet Fanatik reports Leicester want ⬠6million for Ghezzal (around £ 5.16million), who still has a year left to fulfill his contract at King Power Stadium.
