Online conference: Emergence and liberation September 17

VIRTUAL – On Friday September 17th from 6pm to 8pm, Dennis Kiley and Rachel Nixon will give a public lecture entitled “Emergence and Liberation” via Zoom. The program is part of the Friday Dharma Talk series hosted by The Dancing Elephant. It is open to the community by donation. Registration is required to receive the Zoom link.

Join this conference on the web of life, emergence and liberation. Kiley and Nixon will engage in a conversation about how people might embrace new heart and planet-centered narratives. The offer will be generative, instantaneous and collaborative, opening up a community conversation on how emergence can provide a path and solutions for deeper aspirations.

Kiley is the founder of the EcoPsychology Initiative. He is trained as a psychotherapist, mindfulness teacher, yoga instructor and outdoor educator. Nixon is a teacher and founder of The Dancing Elephant. She was introduced to the wisdom teachings of Kripalu Yoga and Tibetan Buddhism in 2001, and has explored her practice ever since.

The Dancing Elephant is a community yoga, meditation and art center offering online offerings and yoga classes at Union Hall in Rockport. All programs are donation based and available for all skill levels.

Public roast turkey dinner to go on September 18

WASHINGTON – Mt. Olivet Lodge will be offering a public roast turkey “take out” dinner on Saturday, September 18, from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

The menu will include roast turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes with gravy, vegetables, a bun and dessert. $ 10 a meal. To minimize contact, payment by check is preferred. Make checks payable to Mount Olivet Lodge. Guests will not be allowed into the dining room.

The lodge is located 1/4 mile north of Washington Village on Route 220.

The Coastal Children’s Museum offers free admission on September 18

ROCKLAND – The Coastal Children’s Museum, located at 75 Mechanic St., next to Snow Marine Park, invites young and old to celebrate founders Elaine Wilson and Felicity Bowditch, and 12 years of learning through play.

On the founder’s day, entry to the museum will be free. Activities will include crafts and games, including a scavenger hunt and apple cider making. The winners of the bicycle raffle will be drawn, and there will be cake.

Reminder: inside the museum, children wear socks but no shoes, and everyone from 2 years old must wear a mask.

Williams-Brazier Makes Changes and Offers Baked Bean Supper on September 18

THOMASTON – In light of the recent and rapid increase in new daily cases of COVID-19, the Williams-Brazier Post 37 wishes to inform all past or future members, subscribers and guests that members of the post are changing the procedures for dinners , activities and events as follows.

The Red Friday Coffee and Donut activity is suspended until further notice.

Station 37 will not organize meals on site during the winter. This will remain in effect until COVID-19 numbers reach safe levels again.

Williams-Brazier will return to full “take out” meals at 5 pm during the winter, continuing to provide meals to members and guests during the winter months. Reservations can be made by calling 790-2204. If the call is not answered, an answering machine is activated. Leave a name and how many meals you want to collect.

The menu includes baked beans, hot dogs, coleslaw, American chop suey, rolls, pickles, coffee and dessert. Each meal costs $ 10.

Future events and activities will not be organized or scaled down on a case-by-case basis, such as the celebration of Veterans Day.

The Santa Claus workshop is expected to be held this year, in a scaled-down format to ensure COVID-19 security measures can be followed. Watch out for future Facebook posts and newspaper ads.

Williams-Brazier Post 037 to host bottle drive for veterans on September 18

THOMASTON – Want to support a good cause and help veterans and local charities? Go help Auxiliary Unit 37 to support local veterans and local charities. On September 18, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., bring all returnable bottles and give them to Auxiliary Unit 37 at 10 Watts Lane.

Proceeds will be used to support Maine veterans and their causes, as well as programs at Togus and the Augusta Veterans Home.

City to host chili meet, chowder and fundraiser at the public library on September 18

THOMASTON – This year, the Friends of Thomaston Public Library’s annual Chile and Chowder, Books and Bakes fundraiser will be accompanied by a welcome meeting in town.

On Saturday, September 18 (rainy date September 25), meet with representatives from the local city and other community organizations to discuss ideas and concerns for Thomaston from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Academy lawn. Building at 60 Main St. Visitors can also try a cup of chili or chowder, some baked goods and books for sale.

The suggested donation for the chili or chowder lunch is $ 6, but everyone is welcome regardless of their donation capacity. All proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the library’s summer breakfast and activities program, 40 Days of Summer.
