The Turkish-Islamic Union for Religious Affairs (DITIB) in Strasbourg, France and affiliated associations collected donations for the construction of 539 houses for Syrians.

According to a press release from the Türkiye Diyanet Foundation (TDV), which quotes Ramazan Dolu, the attaché for religious affairs in Strasbourg, benefactors in France have acted for the Syrian families victims of the civil war which has lasted for a decade.

“We will be building 539 houses in Syria on behalf of benefactors here. We wanted to help at least in the least way our brothers and sisters who are fighting for their lives in tent camps, who don’t even have a home to live in and who feel the most painful side of the war, ”he said. -he declares.

Ihsan Açık, second chairman of the board of TDV, also said that the foundation aims to help victims of war.

Syria has been embroiled in a brutal civil war since early 2011, when Bashar Assad’s regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests with unexpected ferocity.

Today, an estimated 12.4 million Syrians are food insecure, or nearly 60% of the population who do not know what they will eat tomorrow, according to the World Food Program. This represents an increase of 4.5 million people in just one year.

Stating that TDV is transferring aid ranging from hygiene packages, food, clothing, education and housing to Syria, Açık added, “One of the issues we attach the most importance to is is our Goodness Houses project. Families who have had to give up all their life experiences have had to migrate with only a few things they were able to take with them. Many families are trying to live in difficult situations in tents. “

Although Turkish officials and charities continue their efforts to provide humanitarian aid, there are still thousands more in need of urgent help from the international community.

For years, Bashar Assad’s regime has ignored the needs and security of the Syrian people, eyeing only further territory gains and crushing the opposition. To this end, the regime has bombed vital facilities like schools, hospitals and residential areas for years, displacing nearly half of the country’s population while adopting policies to make their lives more difficult. .

Açık further said that so far 3,804 houses have already been built and donated to families in Syria, while efforts for 3,550 more continue.
