There is nothing unusual about dogs being deeply devoted to their owners, but one dog from northern Turkey has taken their bond with their late owner to a new level. Fero, who lost his owner Ömer Güven on October 29, has since been a frequent visitor to his grave.

Güven, a father of five, had found a new child in the dog when he adopted the stray dog 11 years ago. The old man died at the age of 92 last month from natural causes.

Her daughter-in-law, Fatma Güven, said the old man and the former wanderer have a very close bond. She said that since the day of his owner’s funeral, Fero has insisted on staying near the old man’s final resting place. “He also took care of the stray cats and used to go out of town in the winter. The cats wandered off when he left town, but Fero found him immediately. I wasn’t sure if the dog smelled his arrival, but he would still be there when he came back. My father-in-law also liked him very much. He did not eat until he had fed Fero, “she told Anadolu (AA) news agency on Thursday.

“Sometimes there are neighbors who see Fero come to the cemetery without us,” she said. “When he was buried, the dog sat right above the grave.”

In January, another dog from Trabzon won hearts as he waited for days outside the hospital where his master was hospitalized.
