TURKEY – Construction of the very first Dollar General in Turkey has been completed and the store is now officially open, the company said on Monday.

The store is located at 7830 Turkey Hwy. (NC 24) in town. The store is expected to employ around six to 10 people, depending on the store’s individual needs, according to the company.

Dollar General is not a rare store franchise in the Sampson County area. A new one has just opened north of Clinton, which is already home to several others. Newton Grove, Salemburg and Roseboro also have locations. For Turkey, however, this is a first.

The new store is located at Daniel Street and NC 24, easily spotted for motorists traveling east of Sampson, between Clinton and Warsaw. This busy site was the ideal site, initially targeted when talks for a Dollar General began in March.

Members of Turkey’s city council are excited about the prospect as they have wanted a Dollar General for some time. This is a sentiment shared by the mayor of Turkey, Max Pope.

“Everyone is just delighted that we have acquired the Dollar General,” Pope said. “Honestly, we are just delighted that we are finally settling in Turkey. It gives us a really strong business downtown and we’re looking for a high level of community sponsorship.

As with this well-known franchise, Turkish residents can expect to purchase essential household items including food, cleaning supplies, paper products, over-the-counter medicines, hygiene products, household items. for babies and more. According to a company press release, the location in Turkey includes the company’s new interior design and an expanded selection of party preparations.

Normal hours of operation can be found through the Dollar General app.

“At Dollar General, we believe that the addition of each new store provides positive economic growth for the communities we proudly serve, and the addition of our new store in Turkey underscores our commitment to providing an enjoyable shopping experience that includes great prices on quality products in a convenient location, ”said Dan Nieser, senior vice president of real estate and store development at Dollar General, in a press release. “We look forward to welcoming customers to our new store and hope they enjoy shopping at our new location.”

To commemorate the opening, Dollar General plans to donate 100 new books to a nearby elementary school to benefit students from Kindergarten to Grade 5. Through the partnership with the Kellogg Company, it will be part of a planned donation of more than 100,000 pounds across the country to celebrate the opening of new DG stores.
