Former Sun Prairie City District Attorney Mark Leonard pleaded guilty Thursday to one charge of disorderly driving while armed and was placed on a delayed prosecution program.

Leonard, 61, of Madison, was suspended from duty in June after being accused of displaying two handguns while drunk at a bar in Waunakee.

The deferred prosecution program, run by the Dane County District Attorney’s Office, will require Leonard to follow certain rules and if he passes the program, the disorderly conduct charge will be dismissed.
If he does not complete the program, he faces a sentence of up to nine months in prison and a fine of $ 1,000.
