Golda Director Guy Nattiv Boards ‘The Criminals’ as Executive Producer

“Golda” director Guy Nattiv has joined the Oscar-nominated short “The Criminals” as executive producer.

Written and directed by Serhat Karaaslan, a Kurdish director from Turkey, the film centers on a young couple in a small Turkish town seeking privacy. Shortlisted in the live-action shorts category for the 2022 awards, the film uses genre to discuss how an oppressive society drives its civilians to control each other, ultimately turning sex into a subversive act. .

“The Criminals” is produced by Laure Dahout through her French production company Tiresias Films. The film had its world premiere at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Special Jury Prize for Short Film. Since then, he has collected more than 90 selections and more than 40 awards. He was nominated for a Caesar on Wednesday.

Nattiv, the director of the upcoming Helen Mirren-directed biopic about Golda Meir, is now lending his bona fides to the film. The director won the 2019 Live Action Short Film Oscar for his film “Skin” starring Jaime Ray Newman.

Filmmakers Scott Aharoni, Mustafa Kaymak and Sinan Eczacibasi, whose films have also won major awards at Sundance and Tribeca, are also on board “The Criminals” as executive producers. The trio recently secured a major film fund through their new production company Cinegryphon Entertainment.
