Paw party

LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch is gearing up for its very first dog-centric event on the property – Paws Fest 2021, presented by Circle B Veterinary Hospital. The event will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 30. While the festival is home to several attractions, the most anticipated is the arrival of DockDogs, the independent dock jumping governance and sanctioning body and Dock Diving Sports canine performance in front of the Alamo Drafthouse theater in LaCenterra. In addition to the Docks Dogs competitions, Paws Fest will include a variety of other activities that event attendees can participate in alongside their furry companions. Howl-O-Ween

The town of Katy’s Howl-O-Ween is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 30 at Dog Park at 5414 Franz Road.

Bike to the beach for autism

Friends and volunteers from Hope For Three are cycling to the beach on Saturday, October 30 to raise awareness about autism and raise funds for children. Join the local Fort Bend team from Houston at Galveston Beaches (100, 50 and 40 km). Cyclists, friends and supporters can register or donate at my.biketothebeach.org/H43. 10th Annual Oktoberfest

The 10th Annual Flying Saucer Oktoberfest is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 30 at Sugar Land Town Square on Highway 6 and US Highway 59. The event features over 80 craft beers from around the world, live music, local food vendors, Halloween costume contest, raffle prizes and entertainment in the Plaza. Trunk or treat

The BVSCU Trunk or Treat is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 30 at the Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, 6646 Argonne Drive in Fulshear. Gumbo Cook-off

The Cross Creek Ranch Gumbo Cook-Off is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 6 at Cross Creek Ranch, 6450 Cross Creek Bend Lane in Fulshear. “Krewes” will battle it out to see which okra recipe reigns supreme during a Gumbo Cook-Off benefiting the Fulshear Police Foundation. Participants will be able to taste and vote for their favorite okra while enjoying live music from Zydeco, live and silent auctions, food vendors, classic cars, fire trucks and police vehicles, games and Moreover. Thursday is KTown Throw Down from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There will be no blanket and $ 5 beer. There will be live music and food trucks. All proceeds support Katy ISD including scholarship pledges, extracurricular organizations, campus clubs (group / dance team / FFA / student council / etc.); Katy’s Christian Ministries; the annual Rotary Katy toy drive; Camp Hope; YMCA; and local pantry. YMCA Turkey Dash

The 19th annual YMCA Turkey Dash is scheduled from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 25 at the Monty Ballard YMCA, 22807 Westheimer Parkway in Katy. There will be a 1 mile run / walk, a 1 mile kids run, a 5 mile or 10 mile run. Medals will be awarded for the Kids One-Mile Run, the 5K Run / Walk and the 10K Run. All profits from the Katy Area YMCAs Turkey Dash benefit the community by funding food distribution sites, access to child care for essential workers, outreach to adolescents and the elderly to prevent isolation and support mental health, as well as scholarships for child care and YMCA membership.
