Join your friends and neighbors for the free annual Spaghetti Dinner before Thanksgiving hosted by the Saint Joseph Community Land Trust (SJCLT) on Thursday, November 18 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for people to have a chance to mingle with the members of the association’s board of directors.

Dinner is prepared by the Knights of Columbus and will be served at Grace Hall at St. Theresa’s Church, 1041 Lyons Avenue, South Lake Tahoe. There will also be a raffle for a turkey.

This annual SJCLT dinner is for the community. They thank their members and supporters for another successful year of service to South Lake Tahoe.

They were founded in 2002 in response to increasing housing costs and the negative impacts of these costs on the general social fabric, well-being and sustainability of communities around Lake Tahoe.

SJCLT is organized as a community land trust. The foundations of the CLT model include:

Dual ownership: CLT retains ownership of the land / sells homes to income-eligible buyers subject to a 99-year land lease to remove the land from the speculative market

Perpetual Affordability: Resale Restrictions in the Ground Lease Preserve Affordability

Stewardship: educating and supporting homebuyers to preserve assets for future generations

Community participation: The board of directors includes low- and middle-income CLT beneficiaries and community representatives.
