The door of the temple of Zeus discovered in Turkey

The excavations took place in the ancient city of Magnesia, where religious festivals were said to have been held.

During archaeological excavations, which began by the Germans before Turkey’s Republican era, 80 statues and various objects were discovered, including the sanctuary, stadium and theater of Artemis.

The Festival of Artemis, one of the most important religious events of this period, took place in the region.

Archaeologists noted to the Hürriyet Daily News that the recently discovered Zeus Gate, a replica of which is on display at the Pergamon Museum in Berlin, is part of a temple well known in architectural history, as is the Temple of ‘Artemis.

They added that their goal is to reveal the entire temple by continuing excavation throughout the year.
