SANTA MARIA, Calif .– NewsChannel 12 is once again partnering with local radio stations to help promote its upcoming Turkey Drive.

Santa Maria-based Emerald Wave Media and San Luis Obispo-based Dimes Media have partnered with NewsChannel 12 in an effort to bring information about the event to their many listeners.

NewsChannel 12 Turkey Drive is scheduled for Tuesday, November 16 and will benefit customers of the Good Samaritan Shelter and SLO Food Bank.

“Anything that helps our community, we want to be a part of it if we can, and that helps our community,” said Ed Carcarey, Managing Director of Fuego 97.1 FM.

Santa Maria Radio Station now airs promotional commercials during breaks and will feature Turkey Drive this Sunday morning on its 30-minute community spotlight show.

Carcarey has been a familiar face at Santa Maria community events for decades and has been involved with Turkey Drive for many years.

“I’ve been here 32 years and have never been to a city more generous than Santa Maria,” Carcarey said. “It always blows my mind. I’ve never seen people step in when there’s a need in our city like the Santa Marians do.”

Dimes Media, which operates several radio stations including WILD 106, 95.3 The Beach, B98.5, Alt 93.7 and KPIG, also bridges the commercial breaks between music with promotional spots.

“Here at Dimes, we always try to reach out to our local community and community engagement is something that we are deeply passionate about,” said Ricardo Cano, radio personality. “We can’t wait to start over.”

In addition to the promotional efforts until the last day of the event, the two media partners will also broadcast live on site.

Fuego 97.1 will be live onsite during the morning at the main repository of NewsChannel 12 Studios in Santa Maria to broadcast updates and distribute free gifts to donors.

“Anything we can do to come out and shake people’s hands and look them in the eye is the best thing,” Carcarey said.

Meanwhile, WILD 106 will be at the California Fresh Market in Pismo Beach during the afternoon.

“I’m excited about it,” said Jojo Lopez, WILD 106 personality. “As the world is kind of back to normal, I like seeing people again. I like going out and being able to meet our listeners. “

In addition to NewsChannel Studios 12 at 1211 W. McCoy Lane in Santa Maria, Good Samaritan will be holding a donation location at the Grocery Outlet Bargain Market in Lompoc.

SLO Food Bank will have a location at the California Fresh Market in Pismo Beach, its company headquarters in San Luis Obispo, as well as a yet-to-be determined location in northern San Luis Obispo County.
