The Syrian wing of the PKK terrorist organization, the YPG, killed nine civilians and injured 30 others in a rocket attack against northern Syria in al-Bab on Wednesday.
The rockets hit places crowded with civilians, including busy streets and near a hospital.
Once ruled by Daesh terrorists, al-Bab was liberated during Operation Euphrates Shield, which was carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) and the Syrian National Army (SNA).
Turkey launched Operation Euphrates Shield on August 24, 2016 to eliminate the threat posed by Daesh and YPG/PKK terrorists on Turkey’s southern borders.
After his release, most of al-Bab’s residents returned to the city.
Euphrates Shield is one of three successful counter-terrorism operations Turkey has launched since 2016 across its border in northern Syria to prevent the formation of a terrorist corridor and allow the peaceful settlement of residents. The other two are Olive Branch made in 2018 and Peace Spring in 2019.
