Pakistan Army Chief of Staff (COAS), General Qamar Javed Bajwa reiterated that Islamabad attaches great importance to its “brotherly ties with Turkey”, which are deeply rooted in history and Culture.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), COAS Bajwa made the remarks during a meeting with Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan Mehmet Paçacı at the headquarters in Rawalpindi.

During the meeting, issues of regional security situation, mutual and professional interest with special emphasis on defense and security cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

“We highly value our fraternal relations with Turkey which are deeply rooted in history and rooted in our cultural and religious affinities,” COAS was quoted by ISPR as saying.

Meanwhile, the Turkish Ambassador also visited Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu in Islamabad. They discussed matters of professional and mutual interest.

While appreciating the so-called professionalism of the Pakistani Air Force, the Turkish Ambassador acknowledged the growing indigenous capability of the PAF in the aviation industry.

Speaking on the occasion, the air chief said that Pakistan and Turkey have long-standing religious, cultural and historical ties which are manifested in strong ties between the air forces of the two countries.

He stressed that the two countries maintain cordial relations and reiterated his determination to further strengthen the existing bilateral cooperation between the two brotherly countries.

The Air Chief said Pakistan values its relationship with Turkey, which they say is based on convergence on all important issues relating to regional peace, security and stability.

This comes as last Thursday, Speakers of Ankara, Baku and Islamabad parliaments signed the Istanbul Declaration as an indicator of continued strong cultural and historical ties between the three countries.

Hosted by Turkish Parliament Speaker Mustafa Şentop in Istanbul, the meeting brought together Pakistani Parliament Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Sahiba Gafarova of Azerbaijan.

The statement stressed that the three countries will continue to work together in all areas while agreeing to deepen inter-parliamentary dialogue.

It is recalled that on January 13, 2021, the Foreign Ministers of Turkey, Pakistan and Azerbaijan announced that they would collectively support each other’s territorial expansionist ambitions – this means supporting Pakistan in Kashmir , supporting Turkey in Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean against Greece, and in favor of Azerbaijan against the Armenians.
