The tallest woman in the world in 2021 was registered in Turkey, confirmed the Guinness Book of World Records (GBWR) and is called Rumeysa Gelgi and is 215.16cm (7ft 0.7in) tall!

According to the GBWR, Rumeysa was first awarded the record title of tallest living adolescent (female) in 2014, at the age of 18, with her accelerated growth caused by a rare disease known as Weaver syndrome.

The condition means that Rumeysa uses a wheelchair most of the time, but can move around for short periods using a walker.

Since her first record in 2014, Rumeysa has felt it is important to use her platform to educate others about rare medical conditions like hers.

She says her size makes people intrigued when they pass her on the street, but most people are kind and supportive when they first meet her.

In her spare time, Rumeysa enjoys going out for good meals with her family and finds swimming really helps her relax. Her family are very happy and proud of her for winning the Guinness World Records title.

It is especially fascinating that Rumeysa hails from Turkey, as alongside Sultan K̦sen (251cm) the greatest living male and female record holders are now from the same country Рa rare event in Guinness World Records history. .
