Wyoming Rescue Mission Gives Boxes Of Turkey To Those In Need

CASPER, Wyoming (Wyoming News Now) – The Wyoming Rescue Mission Discipleship Recovery Program spent the evening of Nov. 23 providing turkey meals to the Casper community.

“Our followers are the ones who are going to hand out the boxes of food, so they’re going to go door to door and just check and see if anyone needs a Thanksgiving meal,” said program director Dave Matthews. .

About 25 people spent the evening knocking on doors and providing meals to those in need. Two vans transported people, while two trucks transported turkeys and accompaniments.

One component of the recovery process offered by the Rescue Mission focuses on acts of service, distributing Thanksgiving boxes is one way participants are encouraged to give back to their community.

“They’re going back to the old territory of the old quarters where they might have been addicted or consumed and being able to give back is such a blessing to see,” Matthews said.

The two groups went their separate ways and then stopped in neighborhoods offering the inhabitants of the region turkeys

The rescue mission will serve Thanksgiving dinners on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons for anyone looking to join in for a meal.
